Dr Mark Powell is a keynote speaker, author and AI transformation advisor who helps organisations reimagine their future in an AI-driven world. Over more than thirty years he has worked with senior leaders across sectors and held partner-level roles at EY, Capgemini, A.T. Kearney, KPMG, Fujitsu, Aon and Accenture — most recently as Senior Partner and Head of UK Data & Analytics at EY, where he led the team behind the UK Government’s National Situation Centre.

Mark is co-founder of the QI Institute and Qi Ventures, a Visiting Fellow at Henley Business School, an Associate of Hult Ashridge Business School and a Futureworld keynote speaker, and has taught at Oxford, Cambridge, Cranfield and London Business School. He holds a PhD in Organisational Behaviour from the University of Cambridge and is the author of five books, including The Fifth Phase (LID, 2023).

Dr Mark Powell is a senior transformation leader, academic fellow and former Big Four partner with more than thirty years’ experience helping organisations navigate disruption and unlock value through the combined power of technology, leadership and culture. His career spans global consulting, government advisory, executive education and organisational behaviour research, giving him a rare ability to connect cutting-edge analytics with deeply human-centred leadership.

Today Mark works as a keynote speaker, board adviser and independent lecturer in strategy, transformation, leadership and culture change. A recognised authority on AI-driven transformation, he focuses on helping organisations and leaders develop the capabilities, mindsets and cultural foundations required not merely to adopt AI, but to thrive in an AI-driven world.

Mark was Senior Partner and Head of UK Data & Analytics at EY, where he grew the practice from £2m to £15m in annual revenue and from 14 to 125 professionals in four years, and developed the firm’s AI-enabled transformation methodology. His work included designing the UK Government’s National Situation Centre — a world-leading capability integrating more than 1,200 datasets across government and the private sector to strengthen national crisis anticipation and response — and directing enterprise-wide AI transformation programmes for global organisations including Estée Lauder and RS Components.

He has held senior leadership roles at Capgemini, A.T. Kearney, KPMG, Fujitsu, Accenture and Aon. At Capgemini he led a 1,800-person Insights & Data practice across the UK and India; at A.T. Kearney and KPMG he was Equity Partner and Head of UK Power & Utilities.

Alongside his consulting career, Mark spent a decade as an Associate Fellow at Oxford’s Saïd Business School, where he designed and directed arts-based leadership programmes for senior executives, and he lectures at Cambridge, Henley, Hult Ashridge, Cranfield and London Business School. He holds a PhD in Organisational Behaviour from the University of Cambridge. He is co-founder of the QI Institute and Qi Ventures, a Visiting Fellow at Henley Business School, an Associate of Hult Ashridge Business School and a Futureworld keynote speaker.

Mark is the author of five books on leadership and transformation, including The Fifth Phase: An insight-driven approach to business transformation (LID, 2023) and, with Jonathan Gifford, The Five Principles of Performance Thinking, Perform To Win, Machiavellian Intelligence and My Steam Engine Is Broken. He also enjoyed a long parallel career as a competitive Latin American dancer, winning more than fifty titles including two World Championships — an experience that shaped his conviction that business has a great deal to learn from the performing arts.

Our next speaker spent thirty years at the top of the consulting world — a partner at EY, Kearney, KPMG and Capgemini — and led the team that built the UK Government’s National Situation Centre. He has a Cambridge PhD in how organisations really behave, has written five books, and taught leadership at Oxford’s Saïd Business School for a decade.

He is also — and I am not making this up — a two-time world champion Latin American dancer.
